Jie Qu earned his BS degree from South China University of Technology (SCUT) in 2020. After completing two years of Master's studies (2020-2022), he transitioned into a Master-PhD integrated program at SCUT in 2022, specialising in heterogeneous catalysis. My research focuses on designing efficient transition metal catalysts for the high-value conversion of lignin. Specifically, he concentrates on the selective cleavage of chemical bonds within complex networks while effectively suppressing undesired side reactions to optimise the distribution of target monomeric products. To fundamentally understand these catalytic mechanisms, his work integrates in-situ spectroscopic characterisations, detailed mass spectrometry analysis, and multi-variable macroscopic kinetic modelling based on the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism. Currently, he seeks to leverage advanced synchrotron X-ray techniques to investigate the atomic-scale structural evolution of active sites, thereby elucidating rigorous structure-activity relationships.
