Yuichi Hoshino is an orthopaedic surgeon and researcher who serves as a lecturer in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine. He has over 25 years of clinical experience and specialises in sports-related injuries, particularly knee ligament injuries. After completing four years of knee biomechanics research under Professor Kurosaka at Kobe University and earning his PhD in 2007, he continued his biomechanics work at the University of Pittsburgh under Professor Freddie Fu from 2009 to 2011.
His primary research focus is rotational laxity and instability after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and reconstruction. He has developed two measurement systems for rotational laxity and published extensively on ACL injuries and treatment, including multiple first-author papers. He has received several competitive research grants, including Japanese Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research and ISAKOS–OREF grants.
He is a member of several international orthopaedic societies, including ISAKOS, ESSKA, AAOS, and the ACL Study Group. He currently serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics and the Journal of the AAOS Global Research & Reviews, and as an editorial board member for AJSM, KSSTA, AP-SMART, Annals of Joint, and Joints.
