Xiaoyi Yang (杨晓意)
The University of Auckland
Xiaoyi Yang is a PhD candidate in the Musculoskeletal Modelling Group at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute, University of Auckland. Her research uses computational biomechanics to examine how table tennis techniques, such as footwork, load the lower-limb joints and contribute to sex-specific injury risk, integrating motion capture analysis and statistical shape modelling, wearable sensors, musculoskeletal modelling, finite element analysis, and machine learning. Yang works closely with clinicians, coaches, and athletes to translate modelling insights into practical screening, training, and injury-prevention strategies that support athletes' long-term health and performance optimisation.
