Gahyun Kim, also known as “Quantum Gahyun”, is someone who transforms energy into light. She documents her graduate school journey on Instagram @happingahyun, where she shares her growth and research life. With a background in mechatronics engineering and five years of experience managing government-funded R&D projects in the automotive industry, she recently shifted her focus to baseball biomechanics. Under Professor Kikwang Lee, she has gained hands-on experience measuring the physical and biomechanical performance of high school baseball players across Korea using advanced laboratory systems. As her father, a respected amateur baseball coach in Korea, prepares for retirement, she chose to study biomechanics to support the next chapter of his legacy and contribute to the scientific development of the sport. Her goal is to bridge traditional coaching—rooted in intuition and experience—with evidence-based sports science. She hopes to integrate observational wisdom with data-driven analysis to create a more effective training framework.
