Professor Emily Ying-yang Chan

Professor Chan is the Course Director of "Croucher Summer Course 2015 - Research Methodology for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response". She serves as Professor of JC School of Public Health and Primary Care and Centre Director of Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC) since 2014 and 2011 respectively.

Prof Chan conducts research in evidence-based medical humanitarian crisis, disaster, climate change, injury, and violence epidemiology, while teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She has also been an Honorary Research Fellow (Emerging Infectious Diseases and Emergency Preparedness) at the Nuffield Department of Medicine in the University of Oxford since 2010 and a Fellow of the Harvard FXB Center since 2014. In this summer course, Prof Chan will review the public health approaches to medical and humanitarian disaster response.
