Dr Yee Lai CHEUNG Eliza
Honorary Clinical Psychologist, CCOUC, Chinese University of Hong Kong
Eliza currently serves as clinical psychologist in Hong Kong Red Cross. Eliza specializes in disaster mental health and psychological first aid for her clinical work and research. She is a Master Trainer of the community-based psychosocial support training for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and has thus far trained over 1,800 first responders and trainers on psychological first aid and psychosocial support from Hong Kong, China, Singapore, and overseas. In July and August 2014, Eliza worked as an IFRC psychosocial delegate in Liberia for the Ebola Virus Outbreak operation. She has also coordinated and provided emergency mental health and psychosocial response and preparedness programmes in Hong Kong, Bhutan, and various counties of the mainland China including Sichuan, Yunnan, Hunan, Guangxi, Hainan, and Gansu. Eliza also worked with the World Health Organization in the review, translation, and adaptation of some leading emergency psychosocial support guidelines, including the ‘Psychological first aid: Guide for field workers’. She also serves as the Chairperson of the Hong Kong Clinical Psychologists Association and founded Aware Mental Health Promotion Association in 2012, aiming to promote mental well-being in the Hong Kong community.
