Dr Egbert Sondorp
Honorary Lecturer in Conflict & Health

Dr. Egbert Sondorp is a Public Health Specialist, with specific expertise in health policy and planning, evaluation, health system research, and disease control. He is currently working with Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam, as Senior Health Advisor with a focus on Health Systems and Universal Health Coverage. In addition, he also engages with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where he is leading an academic programme on Conflict and Health, with a specific remit to forge links between academia and field practitioners. Dr. Sondorp has extensive field experience in many countries for various funding agencies, such as MSF (Médecins sans Frontières), World Bank, DFID, EC, etc. He has strong track record in range of programme evaluations, programme planning, health reform issues, district health care, programme management, disease control, and training.

In this summer course, Dr. Sondorp will share the evidence for humanitarian health action in chronic emergencies and he will cover the research focus on conflict and fragile states.
