Dr Suresh Mavila Chathoth
Department of Physics and Materials Science, City University of Hong Kong
Dr. Suresh M. Chathoth is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Materials Science at City University of Hong Kong since February 2013. He was a postdoctoral research associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the US before joining the City University of Hong Kong. At Oak Ridge National Laboratory he was mainly involved in studying the dynamics of liquids in confinement, particularly the dynamics of ionic liquids in nano-porous carbon materials and its relation to energy storage. In 2005 – 2008, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Gottingen in Germany. During his stay at the University of Gottingen he has studied thermophysical properties of liquid metals in the zero-gravity condition and microscopic dynamics of glass-forming liquid alloys by quasielastic neutron scattering. Dr. Chathoth received his Ph. D. in Physics from Technical University of Munich, Germany and M. Tech in Materials Engineering from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, India.
