I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences from Peking University in 2022 and am currently a PhD candidate in neurobiology at Peking University, working in Xitong Liang’s lab. My doctoral research investigates the neural mechanisms underlying colour-changing behaviour in cephalopods, with a focus on cuttlefish. By integrating electrophysiological stimulation, calcium imaging, and neural circuit tracing techniques, I aim to elucidate the functional organisation of brain regions controlling chromatophores—the basic units for cephalopod camouflage.
My work bridges cellular-level neural activity with complex behavioural outputs, a framework I hope to refine through this summer course. Specifically, I seek to deepen my understanding of motor circuit organisation principles and neural coding strategies that generalise across species. Additionally, I aim to master neuroinformatics tools for analysing neural datasets and correlating them with high-dimensional behavioural patterns.
