Julie Semmelhack

Julie Semmelhack received her Bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in Molecular Biology, then did her PhD in Neurobiology at UCSD, working on the Drosophila olfactory system in Jing Wang's lab. She began working on the zebrafish visual system as a postdoc with Herwig Baier, first at UCSF and then then Max Planck Institute for Neurobiology in Martinsried, Germany. Julie started her lab at HKUST in early 2017, and is using functional imaging and quantitative analysis of behaviour to understand the neural circuits involved underlying innate visual behaviours. Semmelhack teaches courses on Neurobiology and Neuroengineering at HKUST.
