Shenran Zhang

Shenran is a master’s student at the Key Laboratory of Marine Ecosystem Dynamics, Second Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources. Her research focuses on marine ecology, particularly the role of migratory zooplankton in carbon flux within the mesopelagic zone. She is particularly interested in the biological pump mechanism, which transfers carbon from surface phytoplankton to the deep ocean, contributing to the understanding of the ocean carbon cycle.
