Yin Zhou was born in Zhejiang, China. He obtained his BA degree in 2020 with a major in ecology and evolutionary biology and minor in computer science from the University of Colorado Boulder. He is now a PhD student in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and focuses on the topic of data storage using biomolecules.
