Yibo Liang (梁逸波)
ShanghaiTech University
Yibo Liang is a biological sciences student at ShanghaiTech University with a focus on integrating life sciences with engineering. He recently completed an exchange at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he conducted biomechanics research in the Alleyne Lab, using deep learning tools like DeepLabCut to track and model high-speed movements in click beetles.
At ShanghaiTech, Yibo works in Professor Huanhu Zhu’s Lab, applying CRISPR-Cas9 and genetic screening to study developmental mechanisms in C. elegans. His background is uniquely multidisciplinary; he served as a drone team lead for the RoboMaster competition, mastering mechanical design in SolidWorks and 3D printing. Combining wet-lab expertise with computational and engineering skills, Yibo aims to drive innovation in biotechnology. His diverse research experiences in both China and the US have equipped him with the technical agility and global vision to tackle complex biological questions.
