Hong Kong Baptist University
Cherry Ng is an MPhil student in the Department of Biology at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). She works in a laboratory that studies how signal transduction and cytoskeletal dynamics regulate synapse development, disease, and regeneration—using the Xenopus laevis model. Cherry's current project focuses on the regulation of local mRNA translation in axonal outgrowth and synaptogenesis mediated by m6A mRNA modification. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is dynamic reversible which has been reported to have effects on RNA metabolism. m6A regulation by various m6A regulators in axonal growth cones and agrin-induced synaptic specialisations at developing neuromuscular junctions (NMJs).
