David Drubin
Ernette Comby Chair in Microbiology; Professor, Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California, Berkeley

Professor David Drubin is the Ernette Comby Chair in Microbiology and a professor of Cell and Developmental Biology in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. Drubin is a member of NAS of USA. He is a leading authority in the field of cytoskeletal dynamics and membrane trafficking. Drubin’s research has significantly advanced our understanding of the actin cytoskeleton and its role in endocytosis, intracellular transport, and cellular organisation. His work has elucidated fundamental mechanisms that govern how actin filaments drive membrane remodeling, providing insights that have broad implications for cell signaling, neurobiology, and disease pathogenesis.

At UC Berkeley, Drubin leads an internationally recognised research program and has published extensively in high-impact journals. He is deeply committed to mentoring emerging scientists and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. His contributions to cell biology have been widely acknowledged through numerous honours, including election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Drubin’s pioneering work continues to shape modern cell biology and inspire innovative approaches to understanding complex cellular processes.
