Hau Chan
Assistant Professor, School of Computing, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Hau Chan is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His current research aims to address the modelling and computational aspects of societal problems (e.g., game-theoretic models for social science domains, fair resource distributions/allocations, and housing allocations for homeless youth) from AI, data mining, and machine learning perspectives. He received his PhD in computer science from Stony Brook University in 2015 and completed three years of postdoctoral fellowships, most recently at the Laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard University in 2018. He has been a recipient of an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, an NSF East Asia and Pacific Summer Fellowship, a 2015 SDM Best Paper Award, a 2016 AAMAS Best Student Research Paper Award, and a 2018 IJCAI Distinguished PC Member Recognition. He has given several tutorials on computational game theory at AAMAS 2019-2020 and IJCAI 2019-2021. He has served as a co-chair for the 2021 AAMAS Doctoral Consortium and a co-chair for the 2021 AAMAS Scholarships.
