Ayumi Igarashi is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematical Informatics at the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, University of Tokyo. Her research lies in algorithmic game theory and computational social choice, with a particular emphasis on fair division and voting theory. She is especially interested in bridging theoretical insights with practical applications and is currently developing a house–chore division application for couples based on fair division principles.
Igarashi completed her Ph.D. in 2018 at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Edith Elkind. She has held several research and academic positions, including assistant professor at the National Institute of Informatics and postdoctoral fellowships supported by JSPS, hosted at the University of Tokyo and Kyushu University.
Since April 2025, she has been leading the RIKEN Computational Social Choice Team as team director. Her current work focuses on advancing theoretical foundations while translating them into deployable systems. She actively supervises research projects and seeks motivated Ph.D. students interested in fair division, voting, and algorithmic social choice.
