Cheng obtained his bachelor's degree in environmental engineering in 2023. He joined Xianda Gong's group in July 2023 as a research assistant and will become a Ph.D student at Westlake University in September 2024.
His research mainly focuses on developing a new framework based on deep learning methods combining back trajectories and reanalysis datasets to understand Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN), which play an essential role in climate change.
His research interests include using machine learning methods and nonlinear dynamical analysis methods to understand natural phenomena from different views of data and mechanisms. He wishes to understand nature from a new perspective.
