Sencan Sun is a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Earth System Science at Tsinghua University. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in atmospheric science from Nanjing University and has a solid grasp of key artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. He previously interned at a company specialising in AI weather algorithms and drafted his first research paper during his first year of graduate studies (currently under revision). Though early in his PhD, Sencan is driven to harness the power of AI to enhance forecasting capabilities for extreme weather events. In the future, he hopes to collaborate with like-minded peers to advance the application of AI in weather prediction.
