Rui Wang (王锐)
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Rui Wang is a PhD candidate in the Division of Environment and Sustainability at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology under the supervision of Professor Jimmy Fung. He has been working to improve precipitation nowcasting since 2021 using deep-learning techniques, focusing on Hong Kong as his primary study region. Rui uses radar data to train artificial intelligence (AI) models for precipitation nowcasting, with his research supported by the AoE (Areas of Excellence) project. He has published several papers on AI-based precipitation nowcasting using radar data in Geophysical Research Letters and IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing.
