Mengxi Wu, a research assistant professor at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, earned his PhD from Brown University. His research focuses on tropical convection, clouds, and precipitation, employing both observational and modelling techniques. Much of his past work centres on the Amazon rainforest, known for its unique blend of continental and oceanic convective characteristics. As a former International Mathematical Olympiad gold medallist, Mengxi brings a strong mathematical background to his environmental studies, applying novel mathematical tools to tackle the complexities of the Earth system. His interdisciplinary approach extends to collaborations in biogeochemistry, seismology, and renewable energy.
