Hongxing Cui is a PhD candidate in the Department of Ocean Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, expecting to graduate in August 2024. His research focuses on applying machine learning to tropical cyclones and ocean-atmospheric interactions. Hongxing’s PhD project aims to understand and predict tropical cyclone-induced ocean responses using explainable AI techniques. He is also interested in AI applications in remote sensing sciences, such as image classification and segmentation. His work contributes to the advancements in environmental monitoring and climate science, offering new insights into how machine learning can enhance our understanding of complex climate systems.
