Hongxing Cui is a PhD candidate in the Department of Ocean Science at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research focuses on applying machine learning to tropical cyclones and ocean-atmospheric interactions. Hongxing’s PhD project aims to understand and predict tropical-cyclone-induced ocean responses using explainable artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. He is also interested in AI applications in remote sensing science, such as image classification and segmentation. His work contributes to advancements in environmental monitoring and climate science, offering new insights into how machine learning can enhance understanding of complex climate systems.
