Lydia Mak (麥可兒)
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Lydia Mak obtained her bachelor's degree in physics from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2021. She subsequently pursued a master's degree in applied earth sciences at Delft University of Technology, specialising in geoscience and remote sensing. During this period, her research focused on studying thunderstorm clouds using millimetre-wavelength radar, and employing large-eddy simulations to analyse boundary layer cloud dynamics. In 2023, Lydia returned to HKUST as a research assistant, exploring the impacts of aerosol reduction on precipitation in tropical cyclones. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in atmospheric environmental science at HKUST, focusing on cloud microphysics and numerical weather modelling.
