Professor Weibo Gao is the Chair of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Director of the Centre for Quantum Science and Engineering. He received his Bachelor's and PhD degrees from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2005 and 2010, respectively. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich and joined NTU in 2014. He is a recipient of the National 100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award (supervised by Professor Pan Jianwei), the European Marie Curie Award in 2010, the Singapore National Research Foundation Fellowship in 2014, the Singapore President's Award for Young Scientist in 2017, and the Nanyang Science Award (YSA, NTU) in 2023.
Gao's main research areas and interests include quantum information, quantum optics, three-dimensional and low-dimensional solid-state physics. He has produced a series of influential works on cutting-edge topics such as multi-photon quantum entanglement, quantum computing, two-dimensional interlayer excitons, and the nonlinear Hall effect. He has published over 200 articles in internationally renowned journals, including 6 in Nature, 47 in Nature sub-journals, 7 in Science Advances, and 20 in Physical Review Letters. He currently serves as an international editorial board member for prestigious physics journals such as Newton, Acta Physica Sinica, and Materials for Quantum Technology.
