Amit Meller
Roy Matas Winnipeg Chair in Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Israel Institute of Technology

Amit Meller is a full professor in the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he leads the Single Molecule Biophysics and Bio‑Nano Technology Laboratory. He earned his BSc in Physics and Astronomy (cum laude) from Tel Aviv University (1989), MSc (1992) and PhD (1997) in Physics from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Meller’s pioneering research focuses on single‑molecule biophysics, nanopore technology, and bio‑nanotechnology, with applications in genomics, proteomics, and biomedical diagnostics. His group develops advanced nanofluidic devices and solid‑state nanopores to study biomolecular interactions at the single‑protein and single‑DNA level. Previously, he held faculty appointments at Boston University and Seoul National University. Widely recognised for his contributions to nanopore sequencing and protein characterisation, Meller has published extensively in leading journals and continues to advance experimental biophysics at the intersection of physics, engineering, and life sciences.
