Yitao Long has served as a professor at School of Chemistry, and Director of Molecular Sensing and Imaging Centre, Nanjing University since 2019. He earned his BS in Chemistry from Shandong University in 1989 and completed his PhD in bio-electroanalytical chemistry at Nanjing University in 1998. Following postdoctoral research at Heidelberg University, he held positions at the University of Saskatchewan, University of Alberta, and UC Berkeley, before launching his independent career at East China University of Science and Technology in 2007. His groundbreaking work introduced the concept of single-molecule interfaces, advancing nanopore electroanalysis and bio-interface spectro-electrochemistry. He is recognised as Fellows of the Royal Society of Chemistry and International Society of Electrochemistry for his contributions to electrochemical measurement and molecular diagnostics. He was awarded the RSC Faraday Medal in 2023.
