Zhongyuan Lyu
Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Zhongyuan Lyu, from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, specialises in optimisation modeling and AI-driven systems for large-scale indoor positioning and resource allocation. His research bridges mathematical optimization and generative AI by developing industrial-grade stochastic optimization frameworks using stochastic dual dynamic programming. Zhongyuan also creates hybrid physics-AI models for BLE 5.1 positioning, incorporating domain-specific optimization logic to improve system stability. With 16 peer-reviewed publications and 3 industrial deployments, including Blue Pin HK's real-time positioning systems, his work has significant real-world impact. Additionally, he engineers generative optimization-task synthesizers to produce constrained optimization problems as training data, enhancing the robustness of large language models (LLMs) in solving complex optimization tasks. His contributions advance the integration of AI and optimization for industrial applications.
