Zhe Liang (梁哲)
Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Zhe Liang is a researcher at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University focusing on intelligent systems for the hospitality industry. His research addresses the challenges of labour shortages in restaurants post-COVID by proposing a Vision-Language Model (VLM)-powered digital waitron. By integrating IoT sensors, digital twins, and computer vision, his system enables real-time monitoring and analysis of dining scenarios to optimise service. Using multimodal sensing, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Direct Preference Optimisation (DPO), the system prioritises customer needs and bridges perception with intelligent action while preserving human-centric service in high-contact environments. Zhe’s work aims to enhance service quality, supporting the recovery and sustainable development of Hong Kong's hospitality sector.
