Jie Liu is the Chief Operating Officer of the Hong Kong Quantum AI Lab (HKQAI), where he leads mission-driven research at the intersection of AI, quantum chemistry, and sustainable energy technologies. With a PhD from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Duke University, and 5 years of industry experience in renewable energy and robotics, he specializes in AI-accelerated materials discovery, soft cost reduction for decentralized energy systems, and resilient decarbonization strategies. His work integrates techno-economic analysis, lifecycle assessment (LCA), and multi-regional energy transition modeling to bridge innovation with real-world deployment. Previously, he collaborated with industry leaders and policymakers to optimize energy systems, and today, he drives HKQAI’s vision of scalable, data-driven solutions for a sustainable future.
