University of the Greater Bay Area
Hongkun Zhang is the Chair Professor at the University of the Greater Bay Area (in preparation) and a recipient of China’s National High-level Overseas Talents Program. Previously, she was a tenured professor at the University of Massachusetts (USA). She has received numerous honors, including the U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Award and a Simons Fellowship from the Simons Foundation.
Her research focuses on chaotic dynamical systems, as well as foundational theory and methodological innovation at the intersection of dynamical systems and artificial intelligence. The Chernov–Markarian–Zhang structure and Demers–Liverani–Zhang spaces she introduced are widely cited internationally and have become core theoretical tools in the study of chaotic dynamical systems. Hongkun has published over 70 papers in leading journals, including Communications in Mathematical Physics (11 papers), Transactions of the American Mathematical Society, Neural Networks, and Applied and Computational Harmonic Analysis
