The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
I am a PhD student in Physics at HKUST (started Fall 2024), researching quantum phenomena in transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) moiré superlattices. My work investigates structures like twisted homo-bilayers and heterostructures, engineered through precise twist-angle control, where moiré potentials induce exotic electronic phases such as fractional Chern insulators, superconductivity, correlated insulating states, and topological phases. Utilizing low-temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, often under external magnetic fields, I probe exciton signatures as sensitive reporters of these emergent quantum states and material properties. My mission is to discover emergent quantum matter in these tunable platforms and advance fundamental design principles for topological quantum devices and neuromorphic optoelectronics.
