Menghan Song
University of Hong Kong
Menghan Song is a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Physics at HKU, working under the supervision of Professor Zi Yang Meng. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Faculty of Science at the University of Hong Kong in 2022, where he built a strong foundation in theoretical and computational physics. Song’s research focuses on strongly correlated many-body systems in condensed matter physics, with particular emphasis on advanced computational methods such as quantum Monte Carlo and tensor network algorithms. His current investigations centre on the role of entanglement in quantum many-body systems, aiming to reveal its significance in driving quantum phase transitions and critical behaviours. Through this work, Song seeks to address fundamental questions about quantum correlations and their capacity to generate emergent phenomena in complex systems, with potential applications in the study of exotic phases of matter and their transitions.
