Gilyoung Cho

Gil Young Cho is an associate professor of Physics and Quantum Science at KAIST, where he leads a research group in theoretical condensed matter physics. He received his BA in Physics from KAIST in 2009 and completed his PhD at University of California, Berkeley in 2013 under the mentorship of Joel E. Moore. Following his doctorate, he held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.After the fellowship, he joined POSTECH as a faculty member (2018–2024) before moving to KAIST. His research focuses on theoretical condensed matter physics, with particular interest in topological phases and correlated quantum materials.
