Fuchun Zhang
University of Chinese Academy of Sciences
Fuchun Zhang received his BSc from Fudan University (1963-1968) and completed graduate studies at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (1978-1980) and Virginia Tech (1980-1983), earning his PhD in Physics in 1980. He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Minnesota, University of Maryland, and ETH Zurich from 1983 to 1988. Zhang served as assistant professor (1988-1991), associate professor (1991-1997), and full professor (1997-2003) at the University of Cincinnati. He was Chair Professor at the University of Hong Kong (2003-2013) and a professor at Zhejiang University (2014-2016). Currently, he is the Chair Professor and Director of the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Sciences at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2017-present). He has received numerous accolades, including the University Distinguished Professor title at the University of Cincinnati and was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 1999.
