Ajit Coimbatore Balram

I am Ajit C. Balram, a member of the theoretical physics department at The Institute Of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai. I was born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India in 1988. After completing my schooling in New Delhi, I went to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune for my undergraduate studies in the fall of 2006. I graduated from IISER Pune with a bachelor's and master's degree in science (with a specialization in physics). Thereafter, I joined the physics department at the Pennsylvania State University and worked with Prof. J. K. Jain on my dissertation. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Ph.D. in physics in 2016. After a 3-year postdoctoral stint at the Niels Bohr Institute and the Center for Quantum Devices in Copenhagen, Denmark, I returned to India to take up a faculty position at IMSc.
