Croucher Trustee and Senior Research Fellow inducted into NAS

30 April 2014

Professor Dennis Lo, a Croucher Foundation trustee, and Professor Che Chi-Ming, a Croucher Senior Research Fellow, were inducted into the Natural Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (NAS) at the 151st Annual Meeting last weekend.

Lo and Che were elected last year as foreign associates of the academy, a prestigious title that confers the highest honour of scientific excellence.

Lo was elected based on his discovery of circulating fetal nucleic acids in the plasma of pregnant women and his pioneering work in translating this discovery into innovative non-invasive prenatal diagnostic tests, such as that for Down syndrome.

They were joined by chairman, Professor Tak Wah Mak and fellow trustee, Vivian Yam, both also NAS associates, at the ceremony in Washington, DC.
